Low fire saggar ceramic
Echoes in Stone.
In my ceramic sculptures, I explore the intersection of permanence and impermanence, capturing the essence of human existence through forms that will outlive us. These works are inspired by cairns, ancient markers of human presence and journey, constructed from rocks that endure long after we are gone. Each sculpture embodies human attributes, symbolizing the memories and emotions that define our fleeting lives. The textures and forms reflect the diversity of our experiences, while the stability and timelessness of the ceramic material evoke the enduring nature of these intangible aspects of humanity. Through these cairns, I seek to create a dialogue between the ephemeral and the eternal, inviting viewers to reflect on what we leave behind and how our stories are etched into the fabric of time. These sculptures are not only markers of our physical presence, but also of our emotional and spiritual heritage, as silent witnesses to our collective journey.
